  • Development of web-based voice recording software to be used by researchers at Harvard Graduate School of Education as a data collection tool.
  • Development of a prototype videogame for civic and moral education - part of a project by the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative.

I have undertaken a number of projects as a contractor in addition to my regular employment listed below. Highlights from my freelance work include:

  • Created interactive Flash applications for two Harvard undergraduate courses – a vocabulary application for Modern Hebrew, and tools to allow students in Putting Modernism Together to interact with some of the course's visual materials.
  • Also used Final Cut Pro to edit a video trailer for Putting Modernism Together.

Research Assistant – EcoMUVE, Harvard Grad. School of Education
Sep 2008 – May 2009

EcoMUVE is a nationally funded research project, which aims to develop and evaluate a Multi-User Virtual Environment (MUVE)-based ecosystems science curriculum for middle schools.

  • Created Flash applications (e.g. virtual microscope) as part of the design/prototyping process.
  • Built and maintained the project website using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP.
  • Participated in initial brainstorming around curriculum content and format of the MUVE.
  • Also built websites for two other Harvard Graduate School of Education research projects.

Authored multimedia science learning materials aimed at middle school and high school students:

  • Created interactive Flash applications and graphic content.

Project Coordinator – Age Concern Norfolk, Norwich, UK

Undertook a fixed term project researching and identifying ways to improve lifelong learning opportunities for older people in Norfolk. Also coordinated a second project providing grants for internet PCs and training to care homes and other facilities for vulnerable older people.

  • Worked in partnership with older people's organisations and local training providers.
  • Coordinated meetings, marketed the projects, and performed admin for the taskforce.
  • Arranged training and assisted in the delivery of an IT course.
  • Wrote up findings and recommendations in a project-end report.

Volunteer Mentor – Computer Clubhouse, Boston, MA

The Computer Clubhouse is an after school center where children aged 10 – 18 can learn and develop their skills using creative technology. Mentors assist members with their personal projects as needed.
